my 'recruiting' philosophy

I am not a recruiter, i do not recruit. I do not fill positions.

All i do is connect exceptional people to other exceptional people.

i believe that exceptional people deserve to meet exceptional people.

'vitoria, so what is your angle? do you make money from this?'

Sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. That is not what i am optimizing for. But I am also lucky to only work with founders who understand that talent is the blood and dna of a company, a precious and scarce asset class of its own- and they value it as such. Nonetheless, I am not a paraform recruiter trying to place people for volume and the sake of it. Nothing wrong with that, it's a great business for them, but this is not what i do. Also, I have a job- so, technically I sincerely do not need to be doing this.

So what is my angle? I believe in god. And i did not have it the easiest growing up- raised by a single mother and grandma, 3 latina immigrants in a tiny apartment, in the middle of nowhere in rural catholic traditional italy between vineyards and industrial parks, with my mom hustling between a full time job and cleaning gigs to make it to the end of the month. My childhood was tbh happy, but with many constraints, and on the way a lot of people helped me and my mom. They connected her to jobs and work and gig opportunities: all she ever wanted was a job, she never wanted anything handed to her or to me.

I believe in the value of work and opportunities, and i believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunities are not evenly distributed. A lot of people helped us, and that's it. My mom used to call those people angels that god put on our way to protect us. Now, i want to be used by the universe to help others the way i was helped- that is my angle. Because of this, i am the worst recruiter you will ever meet. I do not go and hunt for people, i let serendipity make them come to me and i move towards what's exceptional, unexplainable and odd. When i meet those people, it is my duty to go out there and text all my founder friends and at least create a bridge. Whether it's a match, they decide. But it is my duty to put myself and my reputation forward for these special people. That's it, that's my angle. Hope that is ok.
